TOUCH CODE: (Re) Claiming Space (2021)

“Touch Code is a gorgeous blend of visceral movement, dynamic music, and carefully considered theatricality. It allowed me an opportunity to both mourn the connection I’ve missed, and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit. The sound score and architecture of the space add richness to the work, and I loved witnessing the deep intimacy the performers share with one another. What a gift to experience live performance again! Don’t miss it.” —audience member

ABOUT THE WORK

The full evening, all female sextet, explores the central themes of boundaries and reclamation as flutist, Julie Johnson, performs original scores of her experimental and contemplative music. The dancers traverse the soundscape and mysterious, sculptural environment on a relentless journey of agency, investigating the stories that reside between—us. The choreography amplifies the energy and responsiveness to the interruption of personal space by exhibiting a raw and exposed view to the desire, resistance, uncertainty, power, or lack of power, in proximity.
